Antenatal Care

It has been proven that continuity of care is one of the most important aspects of care during your pregnancy and to help achieve the birth you want.

Antenatally I will meet with you at least three times to go through your birth plan and spend time with you so that when you do go into labour you will have the reassurance of knowing that you have someone with you that you can trust to have your best interests at heart.

I offer Birth preparation for you and your partner in your own home, this takes place over one day and includes:

  • Birth Physiology
  • Recognising signs of labour
  • Pain management/comfort measures
  • Stages of Labour
  • Birth Preferences
  • Caesarean Birth
  • Induction of labour
  • What to put in your hospital bag
  • Infant feeding
  • Life with a Newborn

Birth Support

As your birth doula I am there to support your choices around how you want to birth your baby, however that may be.

With 20 years of experience working as a doula I have been present at many differing birth scenarios, from water birth to elective caesareans to twin birth and home birth.

I strongly feel that support for partners is an integral part of my work as a doula, but am also happy to be a sole supporter for people choosing to birth on their own

On a practical level, I will come to your house when you go into labour and stay with you until your baby is born.

Postnatal services

As a post-natal doula I am there to support you in your home with your new born. This includes breastfeeding assistance, and practical help with anything related to your life with your baby.

Sometimes doulas are described as someone who will “mother the mother” I firmly believe that at this special time having unbiased emotional and practical help can make the transition to motherhood smoother and more relaxed.
